Rule of law is the bedrock of constitutional governance and democratic society. While we have normative rule of law, in practice there are serious, and often crippling distortions. The multifarious duties of the police along with excessive political control undermines the credibility of crime investigation. Despite the separation of prosecution from police, the prosecution wing is still unable to drive investigation. Additionally, a ponderous, excruciatingly slow and inefficient judiciary leads to lack of trust in the efficacy of the judicial system in delivery justice.
In our second edition of the conference, we aim to provide a platform for constructive conversation between all relevant stakeholders on how to make our rule of law institutions deliver better results.
